Here’s how to make some super delicious red velvet cookies presented by your hosts Chloe and Phoebe in their first video – kids kitchen. The steps are super simple and the cookies incredibly delicious, so give them a go and let us know how you get on!

Pre-heat your oven to gas mark 5 or equivalent (see temperature conversion charts) and line a couple of baking trays.

Mix the plain flour, cocoa powder, cornflour, bicarb of soda and salt together in a bowl. Mix until a chocolate powder is formed.

Cream together the butter and both sugars using an electric whisk until smooth and the sugar is dissolved into the buttery mix. Add in the eggs and vanilla extract then beat together again until combined. Fold in the dry chocolate mix from earlier until smooth, add in the food colouring and mix until bright red. Add the majority of the chocolate chips, and mix through.

Using an ice cream scoop dollop on amounts about the size of a tablespoon and don’t flatten them. Spread out well on a baking tray and bake for ten minutes. Remove from the oven and place on a wire rack placing some spare chocolate chips into the cookie by pushing them into the warmed cookies. Serve warm – yum!
