In this video we show you how to make some homemade Disney World recipes – ones that we remember as being quite iconic during our visit to Florida a few Years back – we make homemade dole whip (a sort of tropical sorbet) and some delicious mac and cheese bacon topped hot dogs! Enjoy and let use know if you’d like to see any more Disney recipes!

Dole Whip
To make the dole whip you’ll need an ice cream maker ideally. Place the bowl of the ice cream maker into the freezer overnight (refer to specific machine instructions if unsure).

First up we make a syrup, combine the sugar and water together into a microwave safe bowl, give a stir then microwave for 90 seconds, stirring half-way between. This should warm the mixture and create a transparent syrup with the sugar fully dissolved. Let the syrup cool to room temperature then place in the freezer for 20 minutes. You could also do this over a hob in a saucepan warming it and stirring constantly rather than the microwave if you wish.

Once the syrup is nice and chilled, you’ll need about 120ml of it (hopefully all of it!). Pour the pineapple juice and lime juice into the syrup, give it a quick stir, then pour into the ice cream maker and let it churn immediately. It’ll take about 15 minutes to fully turn into that sorbet like texture of dole whip! Remove once done and either keep frozen in the freezer or eat immediately – super refreshing!

Bacon Mac & Cheese Hot Dogs
Lets start off by making the mac and cheese. In a saucepan add the butter over medium heat and stir for a moment until just melted, add the flour quickly and keep stirring until combined and thickened, approx. 2 minutes. Keep stirring it to cook the flour and keep it all moving. Add in the milk and continue to stir over a medium heat, bringing it to a low boil and then a low steady simmer, keep stirring or whisking is also good, until thickened. Season with salt and pepper, then add in the cheese off the heat, stir through until the heat melts it into the sauce and the stir in the cooked pasta… leave to cool to one side.

For the buns, slice them open and either serve them as they are or brush a little melted butter on the tops and insides of the buns and bake for 5 minutes at 160fan/180c or equivalent. Just to get a nice crispness, if you overdo it, they’lll go rock hard so don’t bake them for too long, steaming them is another options if you want them softer, I just like a little toasty texture.

Cook the hot dogs on a griddle pan, stirring constantly until well charred all over. There are again other ways to cook the dogs, so use package instructions if unsure.

Serve the dogs in the buns, with a good dollop of mac and cheese dolloped on top and a good sprinkle of bacon bits – yummy!
