Filling

50g (1/4 cup) raisins
1tsp cinnamon
1heaped tsp honey
1/4tsp grated nutmeg
60g (1/3 cup) Muscavado Sugar

This recipe completely blew me away, making crumbles are such easy desserts to bake for sure, but with a few tweaks you can take it to another level. In this video recipe I show you how to make a gorgeous cinnamon apple crumble, the dish creates a lovely caramel at the bottom during baking that goes great with the softened apples, raisins and baked crumble topping, amazing!

First we make the crumble topping, in a large bowl combine together all of the crumble ingredients and rub the butter between your fingers and thumbs until fine crumbs are formed, this may take around 5 minutes or so to get the texture you like, it should go a light brown colour too. Leave to one side.

For the filling again in a large bowl add the ingredients together and mix with a spatula until coated. The apples I used in the video were stored in water with a little lemon juice to stop them discolouring before starting. Do this if you don’t want them to go brown!

In a greased baking dish push in the apple mixture, that should look a stained browned colour too and smell great, press into place with a spatula to level off then sprinkle the crumb topping all over until completely covered. Bake in an oven pre-heated to 180c / 350f / gas 4 for 35 minutes or until the topping is lightly browned. It will be bubbling hot so be careful!

After allowing to cool slightly serve up spoonfuls with custard or cream, amazing recipe, really give this simple humble crumble a try.
