by Barry Lewis

Ingredients

300g milk chocolate

30g cocoa powder

50g icing sugar

1 tsp salt

Decorations of choice, we used;

Melted dark and white chocolate

Mini marshmallows

Hundreds and thousands

Mini Chocolate balls

Crushed candy cane

Chilli flakes

Baileys

These hot chocolate sticks are super easy to make and look great!

First step is to melt up the milk chocolate, either in the microwave or in a bowl over a saucepan of simmering water. Whilst you are waiting for it to melt combined your dry ingredients (cocoa powder, icing sugar, and salt) into a bowl and mix together. Add the melted chocolate to the dry ingredients and mix well. Be careful not to get any water into the mixture as this can cause it to seize. Keep mixing, it may not look great to begin with, but keep going it will get there.

Once everything is well combined you will be left with a smooth cake batter mixture, if it gets too stiff pop it in the microwave for a few seconds to loosen it up. Spoon a small amount of the milk chocolate mixture into an ice cube tray, filling it up to the top. Sprinkle on your decoration of choice, then gently insert a bamboo skewer into the middle of it. Repeat this until you have used up all the mixture, and decorate in a variety of ways. We poured a small amount of melted white chocolate/dark chocolate onto the top of a few before adding the sprinkles and inserting the sticks. You can also add a small amount of Baileys to the mixture. Once you have finished decorating them, leave them to set in the fridge for 1 hour, then gently push the chocolate out and stir into a mug of hot milk. Enjoy!
