Picture this: me, your kitchen hero, stepping into uncharted territory armed with nothing but a halogen oven and a whole chicken. That’s right, folks, I’m about to embark on a journey to test out what I consider to be the original air fryer, the halogen oven!
I stumbled across this kitchen gadget in a charity shop for just a fiver and I couldn’t walk out of there without it. Now, I know what you’re thinking. “Barry, what’s the deal with this halogen oven? Isn’t it just an old fashioned kitchen gadget?” Prepare to have your mind blown! This ingenious contraption promised to revolutionise the way we cook, combining the power of halogen light, convection, and infrared technology to whip up delicious meals in no time – basically, the air fryer of the past. With its ability to crisp, roast, bake, and more, it’s no wonder this bad boy has earned that title (well, from me at least).
Now I know air fryers are all the fad at the moment, and I’ve definitely been won over as much as you guys have. Seriously, you can make a 3 course meal in an air fryer, and air fryer KFC, what else do you need from a kitchen gadget?! But I genuinely think the halogen oven gives it a run for its money…in fact, I’d say it does even better, especially if you can find one for £5 in a charity shop like I did! Even if you don’t, you can pick these up for bargain prices online, and even though they’re slightly more expensive to run than an air fryer, they’re miles cheaper than your typical kitchen oven – check out the video to find out more.
I decided to put the halogen oven to the ultimate test by tackling a classic roast chicken recipe. As a newbie to the halogen oven game, this video shows my honest first impressions of this one. So, whether you’re a seasoned halogen oven aficionado or just as curious as I am, join me on this culinary rollercoaster as we uncover the secrets of this mighty kitchen warrior.
