Tried the Ninja 8-in-1 Cooker… and Accidentally Made a Decent Pizza
Right then. I was after Ninja’s pizza oven. That’s all. Simple plan. Next thing I know, I’m dragging a 22-kilo box into my kitchen labeled “Ninja Woodfire 8-in-1 Outdoor Cooker” like I’ve signed up for some sort of culinary boot camp.
Turns out, this thing’s not just a pizza oven. It claims to smoke, roast, grill, air fry, and possibly send emails. So I thought I’d give it a proper go and test a few of its features—including a cheeky little pizza-off against my usual pizza oven.
So… What Is the Ninja 8-in-1?
This bit of kit is basically a chunky all-in-one outdoor cooker with a built-in smoker box. It’s electric, uses wood pellets for that smoky flavour, and offers eight different cooking functions:
-
Max Roast
-
Gourmet Roast
-
Air Fry
-
Grill
-
Bake
-
Smoke
-
Broil
-
Dehydrate
You get a few extras in the box too—a pizza stone, a roasting rack, some flavoured wood chips, and a little pellet scoop (which is basically a posh ladle, let’s be honest).
Putting It to the Test
I gave it a proper run with four different tests, just to see if this thing’s worth the hype.
Test 1 – Max Roast
Straight in with a roast to see how it handles heat. Simple, tasty, solid cook on it.
Test 2 – Gourmet Roast
Not entirely sure what makes it “gourmet” but I gave it a go anyway. Slightly fancier name, similar result.
Test 3 – Smoking with Wood Chips
Easy to set up and nice results. Genuinely impressed with the flavour from such a quick smoke.
Test 4 – Pizza Bake & Pizza-Off
This was the big one. I made a pizza using the Ninja 8-in-1 and then cooked the same dough in my usual pizza oven to compare the results. I was expecting it to be a bit of a gimmick, but it actually did a cracking job. Crispy base, even cook, and a nicely finished crust.
Is It Worth It?
If you’re tight on space, like your gadgets, or just want something that can do a bit of everything outdoors, the Ninja 8-in-1 is honestly not bad at all. It’s not going to fully replace a dedicated pizza oven, but it’s way more versatile—and for most people, it’ll do the job.
Bit of a lift getting it out of the box (team lift suggested, I ignored that), but once it’s set up, it’s pretty straightforward.
