Ah the great homemade McDonalds apple pie recipe, you can never forget two things about these. One, the fact that they tasted really good with a fantastic crunch, and two, that no matter how much you thought they had cooled down it would be like eating the Sun and your tongue would be on fire! Luckily with these homemade mcdonalds style apple pies the ingredients are minimal, they are super easy to make and delicious, plus you can make them as big as you like, enjoy!
Start off by peeling and coring the apples, and cutting into even small chunks. I have a food gadget that is very good for this, but either way if you don’t have one slice them up and stick in the pan. Sprinkle on the spices and the brown sugar and stir to coat. Place the pan over a low flame and add in the butter stirring to melt through and coat. Let it all bubble for 5 minutes to soften the apples.
Remove from the heat to cool slightly. Roll out the sheet of pastry and cut into 4 even sized rectangles. Placing apple portions on one half of each strip. Wet the edges with a pastry brush and some water then lift over to cover and crimp with a fork to seal the pastry in. Place the pies in the fridge for the moment to hold shape. Add vegetable oil to a wok and warm up meanwhile until a piece of bread fries when it hits the oil.
Fry the pies one at a time in the oil until golden brown and place on kitchen towel allowing to cool before eating. Repeat with the remaining pies. Delicious!
