Homemade Dog Biscuits

by Barry Lewis

Ingredients

1 egg
85g (1/3 cup) smooth peanut butter
2 bananas
1tbsp honey
50g (1/2 cup) porridge / oatmeal
130g (1 cup) whole wheat flour
1 egg white for brushing tops
extra flour for rolling

In this video my Daughter Chloe makes our Pug Boston some homemade dog biscuits! These peanut butter and banana dog biscuits are a simple recipe that humans can eat too and went down a storm with the dog for sure!

Start off by mashing up your banana with a fork, get it as fine as you can to make the mixing earlier later on. Tip the mashed banana, peanut butter, egg and honey into a large bowl and stir together with a wooden spoon. It may take a few minutes for it to all merge but this is what you are after for sure.

Next up add in the dry ingredients – the flour and the porridge oats working through until combined. The mixture may still be a little bit wet, we are making a dough here so add a little more if it needs it. The next step is to roll out the dough for the dog treats, so again flour the board and rolling pin and roll to an inch thick.

Using cookie cutters like these you can make some awesome shapes. We just went for bones, but i’m sure your dog will not be fussy if they are made with normal cookie cutters.

Once done place on a lined baking tray and give a good brush with some egg white on top. Bake for around 20mins at Gas mark 2 or equivalent (see temperature conversion chart) then allow to cool fully before giving to your dog!

Chloe and I both enjoyed them too, but would probably take add a little more honey for humans if you were making them for that purpose. But all in all these worked a charm and these homemade dog biscuits should make your dogs day (or maybe Year!)…. enjoy folks.
