Ever wondered if the fancy brands are really worth the extra money? In this cheap vs steep taste test 2025, Mrs B and I decided to find out. We picked a mix of supermarket dupes and their pricey originals and tried them side by side.
One of us wore a blindfold while the other served the food. We swapped each round so it stayed fair and fun. From cola to chocolate, cereal to ice cream, nothing escaped our taste buds.
Some of the budget picks were a surprise. Others proved you can’t always copy a classic — Dairy Milk still ruled the chocolate round. The biggest debate came from the ice cream. We spotted the “℮” mark on both tubs and chatted about what it means. It turns out it’s an average fill mark, and the cheaper one had more air whipped in, making it lighter but not smaller.
