It’s time to make a 2nd attempt at making 3 unusual recipes in an air fryer – this time – French Toast (eggy bread to me!), naked fish and chips with minty mushy peas and a chocolate cake straight out of the cake tin… Nice! If you like this, check out the 1st 3 course meal in an air fryer video.
Air Fryer French Toast
Combine all the ingredients into a large mixing bowl (apart from the bread!) and whisk well to combine together and make a smooth dunking station for the bread.
Warm your air fryer to 190c and when ready dunk a slice of bread in the beaten egg mixture, spray oil inside the air fryer and place the bread inside, cook for 5 minutes either side until well browned, repeating with more slices of bread. Top with maple syrup, fruit, icing sugar etc and eat whilst warmed.
Air Fryer Fish and Chips
First up lets get the chips cooking, make sure you pat the potatoes dry after slicing, cover in oil and season if you wish. Cook in an air fryer on their own for ten minutes, stirring them at the 5 minute stage. Meanwhile rub the fish in the lemon pepper seasoning place in baking parchment with the butter and a lemon wedge put on top and fully encase, wrapping in the paper. Cook the fish parcel in with the potatoes after they have had ten minutes in there on their own. Meanwhile stir the mint and peas together in a ramekin and add in a little butter (say a tsp) mix to coat the butter onto the mint / peas and put in the ramekin for the final 3 minutes cooking to warm through.
Serve all together with any juices from the fish drizzled on top.
Air Fryer Chocolate Cake
This is such as simple one, but could be used with your own cake batter if you want to make your own cake. Line a cake tin large enough for the air fryer and grease it as per usual, a loose bottom tin helps too if you have it but not essential. My cake tin was a 7 inch one.
Make the cake mix to package instructions, pre-heat your air fryer to 180c and ‘bake’ for approx 20 minutes or until a skewer comes out clean. Cover with foil during cooking if needed if you think it is burning, allow to cool in the tin before tipping out and frosting / decorating as needed. A super nice cake, the texture is amazing!
